Radiation Therapy Services
The Trilogy Linear Accelerator – Meeting a higher set of standards.
The versatility of the Trilogy enables any area of the body to be treated using the latest and most effective treatments available. This includes advanced radiosurgery treatments.
The flexibility of the Trilogy helps clinicians offer treatments from a range of techniques suited to the need of the patients.
It enables doctors to choose and use the most appropriate treatment modality for treating cancer in the body or the head and neck, and to deliver the full spectrum of treatments, all on one machine in a single room
ACQSim CT Simulator: Specifically designed for the needs of radiation therapy and therapy treatment planning. It includes a large bore 85 centimeter patient opening which eliminates positioning and accuracy compromises and accommodates large patients as well as positioning and immobilization devices. Set-up accuracy form this unit provides a basis for today’s advanced 3-D conformal, and high precision techniques including IMRT.
Ximatron Conventional Simulator: for set-up procedures not requiring a CT Simulator for HDR (high dose brachytherapy) set-up/position verification films.
Brachytherapy
Brachytherapy refers to a radioactive source(s) applied in or near the tumor. Brachytherapy can be used alone or combined with other treatment modalities, such as external beam radiation (linear accelerator).
Brachytherapy choices are:
- Permanent Prostate Seed Implant – a number of small radioactive “seeds” are implanted into the prostate.
- High Dose Brachytherapy – radioactive source in an applicator positioned in the tumor/cancerous area, and removed after a short period of time. Since the radioactive source used for this technique is stronger than the Low Dose and Prostate Seed Implant techniques, this technique is called High Dose Rate Brachytherapy. .
